KETA LACHS, ALASKA (ONCORHYNCHUS KETA)

Keta Lachs, Alaska (Oncorhynchus keta)
This fish can reach a length of 1 m and weighs in excess of 15 kgs. These salmon are anadromous, migrating early in life from lakes and rapid rivers to the ocean. Such travels may take up to three years. There the fish stay between two and four years until it is time for them to return to their birth place where they spawn and lay their eggs. The fish then die and the cycle repeats. These fish reach an age of between four and seven years.
